Miso, Mellow White, Miso Master 4#
For centuries Japanese crafters have used natural fermentation to transform soybeans and grains into many types of miso, the rich, thick paste used for flavoring a wide variety of dishes. Though now almost extinct in Japan, these ancient practices have been in constant use for more than 27 years at the American Miso Company, the largest traditional miso works in the world. This traditional method results in superior quality miso. Fresh and unpasteurized, it has subtle, balanced flavors that only great care, high quality ingredients, and natural aging can produce.
About Miso Master
GREAT EASTERN SUN Trading Company came into being in 1981 as the sales and distribution arm of the American Miso Company, maker of MISO MASTER Organic Miso, the first American miso made using ancient traditional Japanese techniques and the world’s most respected artisan-crafted organic miso. Shortly thereafter, GES began importing many of the other traditional foods that are so vitally important to the natural foods diet. We offer EMERALD COVE Organic Sea Vegetables, ORGANIC PLANET Organic Oriental Noodles, SUSHI SONIC Real Wasabi Powder, HAIKU Organic Japanese teas, ONE WORLD Organic English Teas, and many Asian-style condiments such as sushi ginger and umeboshi plums.
Our subsidiary, the American Miso Company, located in Rutherfordton, NC, is the largest maker of organic traditional miso in the world- producing over 400,000 pounds of miso annually, surpassing even Japan! Using only domestically grown organic grains and beans, and handmade koji, the Hallmark of traditional miso, MISO MASTER Organic miso is naturally aged in wood without temperature control, yeast accelerants, or preservatives such as alcohol, all of which are used by commercial miso makers. From sweet, creamy, and light to hearty, robust, and dark, the six types of Miso Master Organic Miso offer an exciting variety of organic miso which can be used to enhance everything from basic soups to gourmet fare. Its salty taste and buttery texture make it a versatile ingredient for a host of applications, including sauces, dips, marinades, salad dressings, desserts, and yes- soups. Fresh and unpasteurized, it is a “Live Food” with subtle, balanced flavors that only great care, high quality ingredients, and natural aging can produce.
With more than forty years in the natural foods industry, we remain committed to the ideals with which we began:
to provide the highest quality natural and organic foods for the health of ourselves and our planet!
